Software Solutions

Andrew Thompson has been developing software projects using the Java cross-platform programming language - intensively since 2001.

He offers the PhySci (WebStart based) open source software suite of six programs and a variety of sound/image/video based software, as well as PhySci.codes - a site devoted to Java examples for both learners of the language, and experienced developers who simply need a bit of extra information on an area of Java with which they are less familiar. In addition to PhySci and PhySci.codes, the JavaSaver site is devoted to distributing screensavers developed using the SaverBeans API and development using the API - though most of the latter has been moved to the JDIC project itself since Andrew joined as a Developer.

Author of many popular documents and articles on the internet, notably the Java FAQ, the commentary on MS and the description of the SSCCE, and veteran poster to the public forums that discuss the Java programming language, Andrew has considerable skill and experience at communicating with people of all nationalities, and at all levels of expertise and within the management structure.

At the moment I am exploring the Java server side functionality that brings cutting edge technology to my sites. Technology such as the On-Line Compiler, the first such 'source code to executable' web-application offered.

The On-Line compiler demonstrates* some of the Java versioning services available, as it can compile Java source against any Java release and list the incompatibilities for further investigation. * JOLC can compile source up to 10Kb.

Once the developer ascertains the minimum Java version for running Java code, the next hurdle is to ensure the client or end user has that version of Java available. I offer specialized testing solutions for ensuring the end user either has the required minimum Java version, or is guided through it's installation.

CD based presentations and learning materials, wrapped in an intuitive 'web-style' user interface that is designed for easy browsing.

CD presentations can chronical vast archives of information sourced from all the document formats understood by common web browsers. CD's can store and link to vast numbers of

Web Site Design

Andrew Thompson, is web-master, web-designer and author of the sites mentioned in the home page. Andrew possesses six years of web-design experience and now offers his web-design services to others.

Basic sites are available for moderate cost, while more complex and fully featured sites including site search, automatic inclusion of new content and more are also available.
